SMITE 2's 24/7 Alpha starts on August 27. Long-term playtesting is essential for identifying issues to ensure the game is enjoyable for extended hours. Developers' plans include a 24/7 Closed Beta in late 2024 with more generous access and an Open Beta in 2025.

About SMITE 2

No other game offers combat that feels like your favorite hero shooter combined with the deep strategy of a 5v5 MOBA. Feel every shot, sneak up on enemies, and combo abilities with teammates to take down the enemy Titan.

SMITE 2 enhances the beloved elements of the original SMITE by incorporating state-of-the-art visuals, animations, and gameplay. Every aspect of the game has been improved by featuring a refined user interface, updated audio, clearer spell effects, and new physics-based abilities for Gods such as Ymir. The transition to a new backend technology also introduces advanced cross-play, a comprehensive ranked rework with new tiers and structures, and improved matchmaking.

Both newcomers and veterans will experience new God pantheons, refined kits, gameplay changes, and revamped Relic and Item systems for deeper strategy and more impactful combat. Additionally, SMITE 2 introduces dual power sources – Strength and Intelligence – to diversify each God's abilities, offering more nuanced and varied playstyles. The reimagined Item Store simplifies item building, enhancing the learning curve for new players.

In honor of 40 million SMITE players, the Divine Legacy program has been established. It rewards players for their time and achievements over the 10 years of SMITE 1 and recognizes player spending. All gems previously spent will be converted into Legacy Gems in SMITE 2, which can be used for new purchases. The Divine Legacy program offers 11 unique skins, badges, Gold Mastery levels, and cross-generation skins that are compatible with both games. Starting in 2024, all new gem-purchasable skins in SMITE will be cross-generation.

Also a week ago, Titan Forge Games launched the third Alpha Weekend Event for SMITE 2, introducing three new playable Gods: Hecate, Thanatos, and The Morrigan.

Hecate is the first new deity introduced in SMITE 2. Following player feedback, the goddess has undergone a rework since her initial reveal. Titan Forge Games has further emphasized her themes of transitions and dimensional doorways, enhancing her ultimate ability to teleport enemies and allies at crucial moments during gameplay.

Details on Thanatos and The Morrigan had been previously disclosed, illustrating their evolution from SMITE to SMITE 2 characters. While both Thanatos and The Morrigan maintain their recognizable abilities and play styles, they have undergone significant visual enhancements due to the transition to Unreal Engine 5 and the visual advancements of the sequel.

For guaranteed access to the closed testing, Founder’s Edition bundles can be purchased on SteamPlayStation 5Xbox, or Epic Games Store. Players can also request to join the playtest via the SMITE 2 Steam page or register their interest for playing on other platforms on the official website.
