September has some game-outs you won't want to miss. We've compiled a list of the top releases for geeks and gamers, so relax, and hold a controller warm because it's going to be an epic month.
1. Baldur's Gate 3
Baldur's Gate 3 is a fantasy role-playing game that is based on the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. It encourages players to explore a vast universe with the freedom to make their own choices. Players can choose their own race and class, as well as customize characters with different abilities. At the start of the game, the main characters are taken captive aboard a massive airship and must navigate through various conflicts and mini-quests to reach the legendary city of Baldur's Gate.
The game offers two types of gameplay: real-time movement and interaction, and turn-based battles with options for bonus actions. As you explore different areas and interact with non-playable characters (NPCs), your decisions will impact the overall plot development, from minor details to major events. With its captivating story, realistic characters, and unique combat mechanics, Baldur's Gate 3 promises an unforgettable journey for both RPG veterans and newcomers alike.
Baldur's Gate 3 was released a month earlier on PC so as not to compete with Starfield. Unfortunately, this decision had some negative effects on the quality of the game. The developers have already released several small patches and one huge one, the list of fixes for which did not even fit on Steam. Despite the imperfect launch, Baldur's Gate 3 has become one of the most popular games of the year and is a major contender for the Game of the Year title. The game was released on PS5 on September 6.
2. Starfield
Humanity's last explorers were a brave group of adventurers who set out to answer questions that have plagued humanity for centuries: What lies beyond the horizon? In Starfield, Bethesda's new game in twenty-five years, they could finally embark on that journey.
The game was released on September 6, on PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and thousands of gamers have already been able to experience its vast universe. Character customization in Starfield is very detailed, with players choosing from three biographies and up to three additional character traits that could have positive or negative consequences. Additionally, there are over 1,000 procedurally generated planets to explore, as well as side quests built around the same principle. Although the games are much more complex than Bethesda's previous games, the difficulty settings can be adjusted according to the player's preferences.
Completing the main line of the game will take up to 40 hours, but if you take into account the additional quests, you can easily add 100 hours to this time. It seems that, as with Skyrim, gamers have been finding something new for a long time, and Starfield will not be an exception.
Since its release, the game has taken the initial 5th place on Steam, so it can be said that it is a success
3. The Crew Motorfest
Ubisoft is continuing to expand its car arcade game series, The Crew, with the latest installment called The Crew Motorfest. This new game will take players to the O'Hau island to race under the scorching sun.
For the first time ever, the game will now feature Playlists. These are short thematic stories that offer unique and exciting experiences of automotive culture. Each playlist is carefully designed to immerse you in a different universe of car culture. You get to participate in individual races, themed events, and other unique challenges.
The game will also include a trial version that will be available from release September 14 to 17 and will allow you to play for 5 hours and the progress made during the trial version will be saved for the full version.
4. Mortal Kombat 1
We have earlier written about the reboot of the Mortal Kombat series, which has been around for 30 years. The game is set to be released on September 19 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
The new fighter system in Kameo allows players to choose two fighters to fight together - a primary fighter who does most of the fighting and a secondary character who can pop in and out to help out. Additionally, the game comes with more beginner-friendly features, such as simplified entry and extended time windows to perform combos. The new Invasion live feature includes exploring dungeons, battling elemental enemies with unique move sets, leveling up stats, and unlocking special keys and rewards. In terms of news leading up to the game's release, we would like to say that Johnny Cage will have a Jean Claude Van Damme skin, which unfortunately will only be available in the premium edition. Furthermore, you will also recognize Megan Fox in Nitara, who has lent her appearance and voice to the character.
5. Lies of P
Lies of P is a soul-like role-playing game developed by Round8 Studio and published by NeoWiz. It is based on the story of the adventures of Pinocchio and has a final release date of September 19
In the game, you play as a puppet created by Geppetto who is lost in a web of lies, facing incredible monsters and untrustworthy characters that stand between you and the scenes that spread the story of Lies Of P. You will be awakened by a mysterious voice that guides you through the plague-ridden place of Krath, a place rejected by the gods and thirsty for blood. It's your responsibility to hold on to your fortitude and face unseen fears, unravel the inevitable hidden secrets of the monastery's elites, and decide whether to face the odds with the truth or weave lies that will put you on the road until you think for yourself.
The game features a black path, an elegant and beautiful light that reveals the secret places of Krath - a place steeped in the style of the Belle Epoque when its dairy industry flourished and now its streets are covered in blood. You'll develop a unique fighting style to take on evil enemies and terrain, combining dynamic power combinations, victorious Legion powers, and active new powers.
There will be times when you are faced with a choice of whether you can please others in the bitter end by cowering or telling the truth. Your choices will pave a mighty path for you.
The game is a classic interpretation of the beloved tale of Pinocchio, presented as a dark, gloomy narrative that allows players to uncover hidden secrets and symbols taken from the world of Lies of P.
Lies of P will be available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Owners of the Deluxe Edition of the game will be able to access the game three days early.
6. Payday 3
The Payday gang is back to take on a new threat on September 21. The game maintains the same goofy and over-the-top energy of its predecessors, while also adding new levels of depth to the gameplay. The shooter will feature six characters: Dallas, Chains, Wolf, Hoxton, and Joy, who previously appeared in Payday 2 as a promotion for the Nintendo Switch release, and the new robber Pearl. Pearl is described as a woman who used to belong to high society but turned to a life of crime.
The loading screen offers players a variety of options to prepare for the heist, such as customizing their appearance, weapons, gadgets, and skills. One of Payday 3 standout features is the inclusion of a huge skill tree system, with over 100 options that cater to different playstyles. These options range from gaining more health or ammo with drops to better hacking or intimidating civilians, and many of them are tied to improving three key stats: Edge, which increases damage dealt, Grit, which reduces damage taken, and Rush, which allows players to move faster.
Players will have access to a primary and secondary weapon, usually an automatic weapon and a pistol, respectively. Before the heist, players can choose a throwable item like frag grenades or a throwing knife, as well as an Overkill slot, which is reserved for an extremely powerful weapon. Deployables and gadgets are also important, with deployables such as med bags or ammo pouches to help teammates, while gadgets include a micro-cam to track enemies and an ECM jammer to disrupt surveillance cameras. Additionally, players can customize their masks, weapon colors, and clothing.
Payday 3 design emphasizes the fluid and intuitive gunfight, delivering dynamic gameplay that perfectly fits the title. The chaotic co-op nature of the game is incredibly enjoyable, and it doesn't take itself too seriously, so the stakes never feel too high, even when things go haywire during the heist. Players can experience all that Payday 3 has to offer when it releases on September 21 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
7. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
We saw the latest gameplay footage for the upcoming expansion of Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty. The trailer promises even more spectacular battles, thanks to new abilities and weapons. Phantom Liberty will bring the biggest game-wide update in Cyberpunk 2077, and all players, even those who do not purchase the expansion, will be able to experience the improvements of the 2.0 update. Here's what you can expect:
- A reworked skill and perk tree
- A reworked cyberspace and new opportunity system
- Vehicle combat with weapons and chases
- Improved combat AI and a new police chase system
Only Phantom Liberty will offer:
- Dogtown, a new and dangerous area (only for expansion purchasers)
- A brand new storyline with new characters, quests, tasks, and boss fights
- Endless dynamic events for vehicle missions and landings
- An all-new Relic skill and ability tree
- Over 100 new items, including weapons, cyber equipment, and cars
- Rocket launchers for vehicles
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to release date on September 26, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 is expected to be released around the same time.
I think we're lucky because September has a lot of amazing games that will keep us entertained for hours. Two of the most anticipated games of the year have already taken their place among gamers' desires. No less expected releases are ahead, and my recommendation is to set reminders in your calendar so as not to miss game updates.
