When I found out on the news that Turtle Beach, the gaming accessories maker, had acquired PDP, another company known for creating awesome gaming gear, I had no doubt this move would shake up their product lineup in an exciting way. My expectations were met and even surpassed. After checking the PDP Victrix Pro BFG with its switchable modules, I was expecting something similar under the beachy palm tree brand. However, the end of last month brought a surprise, as Turtle Beach announced the start of sales of the Stealth Pivot controller with rotating modules. Let’s take a closer look at it.

Turtle Beach has been releasing products in the Stealth series for quite some time, and the Ultra Controller is the premium version with top-tier performance. Designed to work (not the perfect word, but it's what the SEO says) with Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, Android devices, and smart TVs, it offers a 30-hour battery life thanks to its dock station. The new model looks like the expected offspring of the Victrix Pro BFG crossed with the Stealth Ultra, featuring its rotating joysticks and Stealth Pivot buttons. The Stealth Pivot’s rotating thumbstick and button control modules deliver simple, precise, and enhanced gameplay for any type of game, from FPS to fighting and racing, and more. As mentioned, one layout provides traditional gamepad controls for use on PC and Xbox, while the modules can be easily rotated and locked into place to create a D-pad and button arrangement more suitable for fighting games and other types of gameplay.

The Stealth Pivot is made from premium materials, including built-in Hall effect sensors in the joysticks. The smart Stealth Pivot controller is both wireless, using a 2.4 GHz wireless dongle, and wired at the same time for Windows 10/11 PCs. It is also designed for Xbox and compatible with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One as an advanced wired controller. The gaming controller is also a joystick for mobile with compatibility with any Android device and even smart TV thanks to Bluetooth® 5.2 connectivity.

Stealth Pivot modules with rotary buttons and joysticks quickly switch between primary button layouts, including FPS, action, and racing games on one side, and rotary layouts for fighting and retro games on the other side. The smart controller uses Contactless Hall Effect AntiDrift™ joysticks to deliver smooth, high-resolution control without drifting. Adjustable trigger stops can be swapped on the fly, letting you switch to shorter stops for fast-paced FPS games or full-range settings for precise throttle and brake control during racing games. With four remappable micro-switch buttons and up to five onboard profiles, you can easily customize the Stealth Pivot for any game.

A quick adjustment switch in the center allows for instant in-game changes. This switch includes a return-to-center toggle and customizable RGB lighting that can be assigned to various functions. The Stealth Pivot’s D-pad can be configured for either a traditional digital input or joystick-like analog response, with quick activation and reset options—perfect for combos or tricky platforming sections. Turtle Beach’s Pro-Aim™ Focus Mode, which adjusts joystick sensitivity for precise aiming over long distances, can also be preset to any of the four remappable buttons. This wireless multi-platform gamepad for Android is similar to the Stealth Ultra, as I say, but has a slightly shorter wireless battery life of 20 hours due to the lack of a dock station. It comes with a USB cable for plug-and-play charging, allowing you to recharge while you play. When used with Xbox consoles, a USB connection is required. You can also connect any wired 3.5mm headset to access key audio features like EQ presets, Superhuman Hearing®, and in-game/chat volume controls for a better gaming experience. The Stealth Pivot controller also features the connected Turtle Beach command display, offering a variety of built-in customization options, including the ability to display social notifications.
