Gamescom is a kind of fair for video game manufacturers held annually in Cologne, Germany. It is a landmark event used by many game developers to distribute and showcase upcoming games or related hardware. This year's event takes place from August 23 to 27. 1. Mortal Kombat 1

The new Mortal Kombat 1 is the twelfth main installment of the Mortal Kombat series, which will serve as both a sequel to Mortal Kombat 11 (2019) and the second relaunch of the series after Mortal Kombat (2011).

According to the data The Verge a reboot of the Mortal Kombat series, which is 30 years old, is in the works by NetherRealm Studios. The game is set to come out on September 19th and will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. The new Kameo fighter system allows players to select two fighters to battle together - a primary fighter who does most of the fighting and a secondary character who can pop in and out to assist. Additionally, the game includes more beginner-friendly features, such as simplified inputs and extended timing windows for executing combos. The new live service feature, Invasions, involves exploring dungeons, fighting elemental opponents with unique move sets, leveling up stats, and unlocking special keys and rewards.

2. Tekken 8

The Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 event saw the unveiling of a new Tekken 8 trailer by Bandai Namco. The trailer showcased the upcoming game's Arcade Quest mode and revealed the Tekken 8 release date, which is January 26, 2024. Those who pre-purchase the game will receive avatar costumes for Arcade Quest mode. The trailer also confirmed that Tekken 8 will feature 32 characters at launch. Developed on Unreal Engine 5, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

3. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

Here's some news prepared by the developers from the Ukrainian company GSC Game World for the fans of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl. A new trailer for the game titled Bolts and Bullets has been released. The video demonstrates several game mechanics, such as searching for anomalies using bolts and reloading with different weapons. You can also deal with enemies by simply pushing them into an anomaly. The sad news is the release date of the updated game. According to the video, the release is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

4. CyberPunk2077 Phantom Liberty

During Gamescom Opening Night 2023, CD Projekt Red unveiled a trailer called "New Ways to Play" for Cyberpunk 2077. The trailer showcased redesigned skill trees that include exciting perks like a finisher move for decapitating enemies, a bullet deflector for deflecting fire, an opportunist for lethal kills, and a dash ability. In addition, the game now features police chases and vehicular combat that enable players to shoot out windows, hack enemy cars, and use built-in guns.

5. Alan Wake 2

An online trailer featuring gameplay for the upcoming sequel to Alan Wake has surfaced. The new trailer showcases gameplay as Alan Wake, a writer whose work has a strange impact on reality. The trailer takes us on a journey through the dark streets of New York, where Alan Wake must navigate through a dungeon filled with ominous shadows. Armed with a revolver and flashlight, Alan fends off his enemies, much like in the first game. 
Alan Wake 2 is set to be released on October 27 and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
