Hazelight Studios, the team behind the award-winning game It Takes Two, will release next month a new co-op game called Split Fiction. Published by Electronic Arts, the game will blend science fiction and fantasy to deliver a unique adventure.

Split Fiction is a cooperative multiplayer-only action-adventure game that intertwines the fates of two authors, Mio and Zoe. These contrasting characters find themselves trapped inside their own stories—a sci-fi epic and a fantasy odyssey—after falling victim to a device designed to steal their creative ideas. To escape, the duo must collaborate, navigating their merged worlds and mastering unique mechanics within each stage. The result is an inventive buddy adventure that merges immersive narrative with gameplay variety in the co-op genre.

Players will enjoy both local and online play, designed with split-screen functionality to enhance interaction. From platforming challenges to enemy encounters, the game demands teamwork. Each character’s unique abilities ensure that success requires careful strategy and cooperation, creating an evolving gameplay experience packed with surprises.

• Dynamic Gameplay Across Worlds: Jump between contrasting sci-fi and fantasy settings as the game takes you through imaginative environments. Each stage introduces distinct one-off mechanics—from commanding dragons in one chapter to mastering a laser sword in another.

• Friend’s Pass and Cross-Platform Play: The Friend’s Pass system returns, allowing owners to invite a friend to join their adventure for free. Coupled with cross-platform play, it ensures an accessible experience for co-op fans whether they’re on PC, Xbox Series X|S, or PlayStation 5.
• Unreal Engine 5 Excellence: Development using Unreal Engine 5 brings polished graphics and gameplay, with diverse mechanics meticulously crafted for player enjoyment.

Split Fiction is set to launch on March 6, 2025, and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players can purchase it on Steam or the EA App for $49.99.
