2024 promises to be the year when television will become a true paradise for all fans of various genres. From dragons to post-apocalyptic adventures in polluted deserts, the TV screen is ready to become a portal to limitless imagination.

TheGeekyThings and I'm sure there's a series for you in 2024 that will take you to a universe you'll love. With this selection, I want to show my list of expected TV shows for this year. The list is not long, because there is not always enough time to watch all your favorite series. Maybe our tastes coincide with yours, and maybe you will discover something new for yourself. And I will make a wish that this post becomes the beginning of a new series of posts about TV series.

True Detective returns with its fourth season, Night Country, venturing into Alaska. Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) tackle a chilling mystery in the isolated town of Ennis. The case spirals, unearthing a web of secrets that mirrors the harsh environment. 

Night Country, directed by Issa Lopez, focuses on a slow-burning character study. Audiences can expect nuanced performances from Foster and Reis, and a suspenseful atmosphere that unfolds with deliberate pacing.

Severance, directed by Ben Stiller and starring Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, and Britt Lower, explores a radical work-life experiment in its upcoming first season.

Mark Scout undergoes a controversial procedure called "severance," dividing his memories between work and personal life. He leads a seemingly routine team at Lumon Industries, their "innie" selves unaware of their existence outside the sterile office walls. As cracks appear in the division, Mark uncovers unsettling truths about Lumon and his own identity.

In the second season expect a suspenseful and thought-provoking exploration, of free will, and the nature of consciousness. The last episode of the first season has taken a twist in events, so we are eagerly awaiting the continuation.

The highly anticipated fifth and final season of Stranger Things coming in 2024. This American sci-fi horror drama TV series is coming to Netflix this year, promising a thrilling continuation that ventures beyond Hawkins, Indiana. Join Eleven as she faces new challenges and grapples with the aftermath of Vecna's attack.

Directed by Duffer Brothers, this season features familiar faces including Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Finn Wolfhard reprising their roles. Expect a darker tone, new threats, and a blend of action, suspense, and character development as the Hawkins gang navigates an uncertain future.

Stranger Things 5 explores the fallout from the massive gate torn open in Hawkins, potentially blurring the lines between the town and the Upside Down. As Eleven's powers may be diminished, she must rely on her friends and newfound allies to confront the growing darkness.

The dysfunctional Hargreeves siblings are back for the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy, set to premiere in 2024. This season is directed by Jamie Babbit, known for her work on Jessica Jones. Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Justin H. Min, and Aidan Gallagher are returning in their roles. 

Although specific information is limited, season four promises to deliver a conclusion to the Hargreeves' remarkable journey.

House of the Dragon, set 200 years before Game of Thrones, explores the apex of the Targaryen dynasty. With Paddy Considine as King Viserys I, Matt Smith as ambitious Daemon, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen. 

You will see court intrigue, dragon-fueled battles, and complex family dynamics in this prequel saga. The Targaryens, with over 10 dragons, were at the peak of their power, but their slow fall began when King Viserys broke tradition by naming his daughter Rhaenyra as his heir. As Viserys fathers a son, tension, and division spread across the realm as Rhaenyra maintains her claim to the throne.

Season: 2nd

Eagerly awaited the fourth season of "The Boys" arrives in 2024, with director Eric Kripke once again at the helm. Prepare for an intensified conflict between The Boys, led by the disillusioned Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), and the powerful superhero team known as The Seven, dominated by the ruthless Homelander (Antony Starr).

Butcher's temporary powers may have faded, but his determination to take down Vought International and its super-powered assets remains fierce. Meanwhile, Homelander's grip on power tightens, as he faces increasing scrutiny from the public and within Vought itself. Starlight (Erin Moriarty) grapples with the moral complexities caught between her idealism and the harsh realities of the superhero world.

Expect brutal action sequences, humor, and satire on social issues and superhero culture. The new season promises to delve deeper into the personal lives and motivations of both heroes and villains, raising the stakes and blurring the lines between good and evil.

Premiering on Netflix on March 21, 2024, the highly anticipated sci-fi series 3 Body Problem directed by Yang Lei is based on the first volume of Liu Cixin's captivating trilogy "Memory of the Earth's Past." 

Set against the backdrop of 1960s China, the series follows the ripple effects of a young woman's pivotal decision, resonating across time and space to impact a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their very eyes, five former colleagues unite in the face of humanity's greatest existential threat.

The second season of The Sandman, based on Neil Gaiman's acclaimed graphic novels, will premiere in 2024 on Netflix. Directed by Allan Heinberg, David S. Morpheus embarks on a perilous journey to reclaim his lost artifacts and restore order to the realm of dreams, encountering mythical beings and facing ancient grudges along the way. The Sandman offers a blend of fantasy, mythology, and contemporary drama.

Shirley Henderson and Sarah Gadon portray Sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen, navigating a treacherous era as they establish the foundation of the powerful Sisterhood. Amidst political schemes and external threats, they develop their psionic abilities and lay the groundwork for the long-lasting influence of the Bene Gesserit.

Get ready for intrigues, philosophical exploration, and glimpses into the ancient history of the Dune universe.
