Dynasty Warriors: Origins is set to launch on January 17, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. This new entry in the long-running tactical action series brings a fresh perspective with more strategic gameplay, improved mechanics, and a captivating story set in the chaos of ancient China.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins takes place during the iconic Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history, covering key events from the “Yellow Turban Rebellion” to the “Battle of Chibi.” Players step into the shoes of a nameless martial artist who has lost his memory and must unravel his past while navigating alliances, rivalries, and battles in a period of great upheaval. Along the way, the protagonist is accompanied by Yuanhua, a mysterious young boy who guides him through this chaotic era and helps form bonds with other characters pivotal to the story.

The gameplay blends the hallmark "1-vs-1,000" action with added tactical depth. Players will lead massive armies into battle while commanding allies and making strategic decisions to change the tide of war. The game introduces a variety of tactical elements, such as the ability to command forces using “Tactics” and even form “Large Forces” that can launch coordinated “Grand Tactics” maneuvers. However, players must stay vigilant, as opposing forces can counter with their own strategic movements, making every battle dynamic and unpredictable.

Combat is more refined, requiring a balance between offense and defense. Players must carefully alternate between quick and strong attacks to break enemy defenses. Successful attacks will increase the protagonist’s “Bravery,” unlocking powerful weapon-specific moves known as “Arts,” which are essential for overcoming tougher enemies and gaining “Rank” to strengthen abilities. Defense is equally important, with mechanics like perfectly timed blocks leading to “Parry” ripostes that open opportunities for counterattacks. Players must also learn to dodge unblockable enemy moves and adapt to unique challenges on the battlefield.

Adding to the challenge are officers imbued with “Resolution,” a protective energy that must be worn down before launching a decisive “Assault” to defeat them. These encounters demand patience and skill, giving players rewarding moments of triumph during intense battles.

The game also includes a free demo featuring the “Battle of Sishui Gate,” giving players a chance to try out different weapons and tactics while facing iconic characters like Lu Bu.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be available on January 17, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Players can pre-order the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition now. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes bonus content such as a digital artbook, soundtrack, and in-game items, with early access starting 72 hours before launch.

Pre-ordering the digital edition of DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS gives players the exclusive "Nameless Warrior Garb" costume for the protagonist. Physical editions offer additional bonuses, including a soundtrack collection and DLC costumes. The game will also have enhanced performance on the PS5 Pro. If you purchase a physical copy, you’ll also receive a set of four DLC costumes for the protagonist: "Garb of the Azure Bird," "Garb of the Crimson Bird," "Garb of the Emerald Bird," and "Garb of the Violet Bird."
