The end of the year doesn't stop horror game creators. Solo developer Rat Cliff Games early announced the release of the metafictional horror game Among Ashes, which will launch digitally on December 9th for PlayStation 5 and PC.

Among Ashes is not just another survival horror title—it’s a game within a game, blending 2000s nostalgia with chilling, meta-horror storytelling. Players are drawn into the unsettling world of Night Call, a retro-inspired haunted game, while simultaneously experiencing strange and terrifying occurrences in their real-world setting. This dual-reality premise offers an immersive and inventive take on interactive horror.

Among Ashes is a metafictional survival horror game that combines two interwoven experiences. It begins with a stormy night in the early 2000s when a friend sends you a mysterious online link to Night Call, a horror game. Initially, everything seems relatively straightforward as you explore the ominous halls of Stoker Manor, solving puzzles and facing grotesque creatures. However, things take a grim turn as events from the game start seeping into your surroundings, leading to a gripping fight for survival.

The title is both a homage to and a creative evolution of the survival horror genre, providing a narrative with unexpected twists, retro aesthetics, and thrilling gameplay designed to unsettle and captivate.
