• GoPro has launched two HEROes: new HERO13 Black and compact HERO cameras, adding updated features. The HERO13 Black delivers high-quality video and versatility with extra lens options, while the compact HERO is designed for lightweight comfort.

Fall brings a wave of new products and updates to familiar series, not just in video games but also among gadget manufacturers. This rush is tied to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which help retailers and manufacturers clear out inventory annually. GoPro is keeping up with the trend, recently launching updates to their HERO13 Black action cameras and HERO, featuring some exciting enhancements.

The GoPro HERO13 Black camera comes with a new battery that has 10% more capacity, 40% faster data transfer thanks to Wi-Fi 6 support, and three new lenses. It features a magnetic mount with built-in mounting fingers that fit any GoPro accessory, along with a 1/4-20 mount for compatibility with standard tripods, and new charging capabilities. The camera is designed for durability and waterproofing, allowing it to be submerged up to 10 meters for underwater shooting and water sports training without extra protective gear. However, for added protection or deeper dives, special waterproof cases are needed.

New features of the HERO13 Black include HLG HDR and 10-bit video, improved sound settings, built-in noise reduction, and a new slow-motion mode that can record up to 400 frames per second in 720p, 360 frames in 900p, and 120 frames in 5.3K. GoPro claims this action camera can record continuously for up to 100 minutes at maximum quality without needing to recharge, or nearly 155 minutes while recording 1080p video at 30 frames per second. It also records 4K video at 30 frames per second and can do slow-motion recordings in 2.7K at 60 frames per second.

The new GoPro action camera is compatible with the HB series lens set, including macro, ultra-wide, and anamorphic lenses. Additional lenses and a set of four ND filters for various shooting styles can be purchased separately. The Ultra Wide Lens Mod captures a 177-degree field of view with a 1:1 aspect ratio. The new Macro Lens Mod shoots close-ups, with the ability to focus as close as 4.3 inches—the Anamorphic Lens Mod records in a 21:9 format.

Also introduced was the new GoPro HERO compact action camera, which is 35% smaller and 46% lighter than the GoPro HERO 13 Black, weighing only 86 grams. This camera features a built-in battery capable of lasting approximately 155 minutes while recording 1080p video at 30 frames per second. The GoPro HERO also records 4K video at 30 frames per second and can capture slow-motion footage at 2.7K resolution at a rate of 60 frames per second.

Both action cameras are now available for pre-order on the manufacturer's official website. The Hero 13 Black model can be ordered starting at $399.99, while the GoPro Hero camera is priced at $199.99, depending on the selected bundles. Sales of the GoPro Hero 13 Black camera have already begun worldwide, while the GoPro Hero model can be pre-ordered and will be delivered on September 22. The Ultra Wide and Macro Lens modifications are also available, and an anamorphic lens will be released soon.
