At Ubisoft Forward more than a week ago, a new gameplay showcase video for Star Wars Outlaws™ was unveiled, featuring the emerging scoundrel Kay Vess on a mission to Tatooine. In the video, Kay ventures to Mos Eisley to find an expert gunslinger and upgrade her skills with a blaster. The footage captures Kay traveling from Akiva's orbit to aid a Pyke Syndicate freighter under attack, enhancing her reputation with the Pykes. Upon arriving at Tatooine, she navigates the Hutt Cartel-controlled economy in Mos Eisley and infiltrates a storehouse to avoid alarm triggers before securing information on the gunslinger’s whereabouts, leading to an eventual encounter with Sherriff Quint.

Emerging from the Worker's District in Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica, Kay Vess is a young human female who carved a path for herself in the treacherous underworld as a cunning thief during the Imperial Era. Her audacious spirit led her across the galaxy, her skills positioning her as one of the most wanted people and participant in some of the greatest heists in the history of the Outer Rim Territories. Accompanied by her faithful companion Nix, whom she regards as her only family, each day for Vess was a constant battle for survival. Armed with a quick wit, a fearless attitude, and a keen sense of self-deprecating humor, her ultimate dream was to secure a score that could deliver her a life of freedom, finding her place in the grand scheme of the cosmos. Despite the tough challenges, Vess stays relatable with her rookie scoundrel vibe and determined spirit, reflecting her journey through the galactic underworld. After hanging out on Reddit, here's my take - no issue for me to play as a female hero, in fact, I see it as the norm. However, some fans seem let down by it. Hoping the full release brings out the unique Star Wars experience that overshadows any negativity.
