PlayStation revealed details of its devices' 30th-anniversary limited edition yesterday. Their gaming controller quickly grabbed our attention. While we'd prefer the older controller version with DualSense Edge capabilities, so we'll settle for this '90s-flavored version. But it's not just controllers that have a nostalgic look. Let’s explore more below.
What's New
The Limited Edition console design takes the PS5 back to the early days of PlayStation. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hideaki Nishino introduced the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection, a special series celebrating three decades of gaming history. These designs are a tribute to the original PlayStation launched on December 3, 1994, incorporating its color scheme into the latest PS5 hardware.
The collection, set to release on November 21, includes:
- PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle: This bundle features a limited-edition PS5 Pro console with a 2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7, and matching accessories like the DualSense wireless controllers. It also comes with collectibles such as the original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing, cable ties, a sticker, a limited edition poster, and a PlayStation paperclip. Only 12,300 units will be available, each etched with a date commemorating the first PlayStation launch.
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle: This edition includes a PS5 Digital Edition console with a 1TB SSD and similar limited edition accessories. It also features the same collector's items as the Pro Console Bundle and Console Cover for a Disc Drive (disc drive not included).
- Standalone Products: These include the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, and DualSense Wireless Controller, each in a 30th-anniversary design.
